Baby showers aren’t on the top of my list for fun things to do, but diaper cakes have never been so cool.

Enter Whoa! Baby, a boutique that offers “couture” diaper cakes, as well as wreaths, baby shower mums, party favors,  gift baskets and more. One of the coolest things about the business is that each item is designed specifically for each customer and event, whether it’s a baby shower, wedding shower, etc. And the items are affordable.

Whoa! Baby was created in March 2010 by Belinda Trevino Cantu. She wanted to offer new mothers something special for their special occasion, she said.

“Motherhood is such a blessing from God and we are here to help you celebrate,” Belinda said. “Our items are always admired, especially our door wreaths at the hospitals. They are a BIG hit!”

She also offers baby shower gifts such as crochet beanie caps for toddlers and infants, gift baskets with the essentials, tutus, and nursery décor.

Belinda didn’t waste any time joining the Chamber of Commerce, and she’s taken advantage of her membership by attending the monthly Lunch & Learn sessions, business mixers and seminars. She enjoys meeting and interacting with new members, she said. (View the Chamber’s event calendar here.)

“I enjoy getting to know them personally so we can promote each other successfully, Belinda said. “The more people we meet, the better our referrals can be. I’ve had the joy of designing several diaper cakes for friends of the Chamber members. So with all this in mind, I feel that it has truly been a blessing to have joined the Chamber.”

Whoa! Baby is a unique boutique, and it all started with Belinda’s hobby for making door wreaths. She said the wreaths sold at hospital gift shops are generic and wanted to do something special for a friend.

“This expectant mother wasn’t generic at all. Very hip and modern, so her door wreath had to represent that,” she said. “I designed her door wreath to coordinate with her baby shower and nursery. The theme was “Baby Vintage”. She received several visits from the nurses and visitors that would ask “Where’d ya get that?” And that’s how Whoa! Baby was created.”

Belinda,  who works from home, sells about two to three diaper cakes and two door wreaths a week. This is just business from her Facebook fan page; her website is expected to go live this Friday.
