Outstanding Southside Business in Corpus Christi
Some of Corpus Christi’s most recognizable structural landmarks have been touched by the working of Naismith Engineering. From the city’s seawall construction in the 1930’s to the development of the Memorial Coliseum in the 1950’s, Naismith Engineering’s surveying and engineering consulting services have helped to build the city we know today. For this reason, and for a commitment to helping the city to build above its imagination, Naismith Engineering is named the Outstanding Southside Business in Corpus Christi.
“I’ve been with the firm for 25 years, and it’s a great place to work,” John Michael, Naismith Engineering Chairman, said. “We’ve seen our firm grow. When I got here, we had a staff of 12 employees. We’ve now grown to a staff of over 70 employees. In order to do that, we have had to look for larger markets in South Texas, but our headquarters remains here in Corpus Christi.”
Michael said as a Civil Engineering firm, many people do not always realize how many projects utilize the services of Naismith Engineering. The firm primarily deals with Public Works, the projects that directly affect the quality of life for people everyday. Whether it’s surveying land for development and growth or building a structure like a new bridge or damn, Michael said the common factor is the firm’s steadfast commitment to safety and innovation.
“One of the things we’ve always tried to strive for is excellence,” Michael said. “We want to be the best engineering firm in South Texas. We have very talented young engineers and very talented senior engineers. Rarely is a civil engineering firm recognized like this. It’s a big honor.”
